Inter owners are reportedly reluctant to extend expiring contracts of Henrik Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, but even talks over a new deal for Davide Frattesi have been put on hold.

Inter are already making plans for the 2026-27 campaign and beyond, and according to the latest report of Calciomercato.com, club owners Oaktree seem reluctant to extend contracts of players who have passed their 30s.

This is the case for Mkhitaryan, Darmian, Acerbi and de Vrij, even if the club could make an exception for the Dutchman, who, at 33, could still play for a couple of seasons at San Siro.

According to the report, Oaktree are open to discussing a contract extension for Brazilian left-back Carlos Augusto, 26, who has requested a pay rise and a new contract until 2028.

The ex-Monza defender is not a regular Inter starter, but has already collected seven appearances across all competitions this term, providing two assists.

Frattesi, on the other hand, has only made four appearances this season, with no goal contributions.

Club directors reportedly informed Frattesi a few months ago that they were open to discussing a new deal, but Oaktree are said to have put talks on hold as they first want to assess the Italian midfielder’s performances this season.

Even Cristian Chivu seemed eager to start Frattesi more frequently than Simone Inzaghi, but the Italian midfielder has so far gotten even fewer playing time than under the previous Inter coach.

Frattesi’s current contract at San Siro runs out in June 2028.

  1. I’ve always been impressed when Fratetesi is given the opportunity to play, especially in an Italy shirt – had that great scoring spell! It would be criminal for Inter to waste his ability & not play him personally…
