Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Massimiliano Allegri could leave Santiago Gimenez on the bench against Atalanta as the Mexico international hasn’t yet scored in Serie A this season.

Milan visit Atalanta in a mid-week Serie A round on Tuesday, and according to Gazzetta, the Rossoneri coach Allegri could leave Gimenez on the bench at the New Balance Stadium.

Gimenez has only scored one goal in 10 appearances across all competitions this season, but none in Serie A.

Gazzetta reports that Allegri was unhappy with the striker’s performance against Pisa on Friday and, at some point during the game, he even shouted towards the Mexican: “Wake up, wake up! Are you sleeping?”

Christian Pulisic won’t be available against Atalanta, which means that if Gimenez is dropped, then Allegri will pick Christopher Nkunku close to Rafael Leao or pick one between Alexis Saelamaekers or Ruben Loftus-Cheek to play as an attacking midfielder.

Milan have collected 17 points in eight Serie A games this term and are one point below the leaders Roma and Napoli.
