People often say a club has “had a great transfer market,” but that alone is never enough. You can spend whatever you like – what truly counts is who you entrust those signings to, and how those resources are managed on the pitch. Como are the perfect example of this.

Yes, more than €100 million were invested in the summer window, but the difference is that Cesc Fabregas has handled everything with clarity, structure and without improvisation, maximising the work of his directors and the value of his squad.

Fabregas underlines Como consistency

The coach has guided or approved every signing, as if he had a clear blueprint in mind long before the season began.

It is no coincidence that even in recent weeks, despite suspensions and injuries, Como have always found solutions without abandoning their identity, adapting players based on their qualities.

Nico Paz is the clearest example: utilised for what he can do, not forced into something he is not.

This is why, no matter how much a club spends, without the right tactical ideas you risk falling backwards, not forwards.

Como instead continue to grow, spending big but with a coherent plan and a coach capable of turning investment into results and avoiding the kind of expensive flop that has sunk many projects in the past.

Yes that’s exactly the problem with many coaches and I see it often in Serie A where coaches think they can change a player instead of utilizing or adapting to their strengths. Its a mistake because you will never be able to change a player’s strengths to your liking after 1 or even 5 seasons. Their strengths are inherited and developed over many years of training.
