Good evening and welcome to the Football Italia Liveblog for coverage of Tuesday evening’s Champions League league phase fixtures: Atalanta vs. Club Brugge and Inter vs. Slavia Prague.
Atalanta vs. Club Brugge will begin in the early kick-off slot at 17.45 BST, while Inter vs. Slavia is scheduled to get underway at 20.00 BST.
Atalanta sunk to the very bottom of the standings after a 4-0 defeat by reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in the first round of fixtures, while Inter picked up a 2-0 win away against Ajax, which has them eighth in the standings ahead of kick-off.
“Given that we only had 72 hours between matches, I wanted to give the chance to some players who had been playing less, while also keeping a compact, quality team.
“I’m happy that I had the chance to give Bisseck and Zielinski a few minutes and rest some of the others. I think that some of them will have to go to their national teams and play two more games.”
“He says it’s a cramp. We’ll do some tests tomorrow and we hope it’s nothing serious.”
On Inter’s ‘self esteem’, Chivu said: “It’s a tightrope, you have to keep the balance. The boys always try to have fun, you have to have the right passion, but without losing focus or your attitude.
“To me, it seems like they’re growing, but they’ve behaved brilliantly since the beginning of the season.”
“The game was important and taken seriously. Our attitude was normal,” Chivu told Sky Sport Italia after full-time.
“I take things game by game, we’ll see after that,” says Thuram.
“The Champions League is long, we’re only in September.”
“It’s always tough in the Champions League. We had to take it seriously and play the game that we played tonight.
“The important thing is to not concede goals, since we are usually okay at scoring. We’re improving and hope to improve even more.”
The Frenchman was seen limping towards the end of Inter’s victory, but insists there is nothing to worry about.
“I think it’s a small thing, nothing serious,” he told Sky Sport Italia after full-time.
